Interesting story! A 16 year old girl has been diagnosed with bubonic plague. It is said that she likely contracted it from a flea bite while she was on a hunting trip. It is surprising to hear that the plague is not a disease of the past, but actually exists in our environment. While confined mostly to wildlife, that is crazy! Thankfully it appears that only 8 cases have been diagnosed in humans since 1995, and among that there have been no deaths.

This is a great reason to make sure you keep rodents under control around your property because they’re reported to be carriers. We do offer rodent control as part of our pest control treatment.
